Yes. NAICB certifications validate competence in AI principles, frameworks, and best practices — not proficiency with any specific vendor's tools. Your NAICB credential is relevant regardless of whether your organization uses AWS, Azure, Google Cloud, open-source models, or any other platform.
Each tier has a knowledge exam (multiple-choice, proctored) and a practical assessment. Tier 1 includes a case study. Tier 2 includes a project and presentation. Tier 3 includes a capstone project with board review. Tier 4 specializations include an industry-specific case study.
Yes. The "Challenge Path" allows experienced professionals to sit for the exam without completing the NAICB training program. Challenge Path pricing is lower, but the exam content and passing standard are identical.
All NAICB certifications are valid for two years. Renewal requires completion of continuing education units (CEUs) — 20 to 40 depending on tier — including a minimum of 6 hours focused on AI ethics.
You have a 90-day grace period after expiration to complete your CEUs and renew. If your certification has been lapsed for 90 days to 3 years, you must retake the exam. Lapsed more than 3 years requires full re-certification.

NAICB is pursuing ANSI/ISO 17024 accreditation for personnel certification, as well as recognition from professional associations including PMI, ISACA, and IEEE. We are building to accreditation standards from day one.
